Superfine, The Met, and Two E Bar: Marc Dennis’ New York

By Whitewall

November 8, 2017

Whitewaller New York is out this week for The Salon Art + Design Fair (November 9-13) and the fall contemporary auctions next week. In the issue, we’re sharing insider tips on where to eat, sip, see art, have fun, and relax during this busy art season, from artist Marc Dennis.

WHERE TO EAT AND SIP
My favorite watering hole in the city is in Brooklyn; it’s called Superfine, located in DUMBO. It’s my Cheers. They know my name when I walk in and, more important, they know my drink, which by the way is Widow Jane bourbon. On the rocks. They also have the best fries in the city.

WHERE TO SEE ART
My favorite museum by far is the Metropolitan Museum of Art because of its magnitude and wonder. I never leave uninspired. My other favorite places are The Frick and MoMA. The Frick is an extremely well-groomed and well-curated architectural magnificence. It also has the best painting in America, St. Francis in the Desert by the 15th-century Italian master Giovanni Bellini.

WHERE TO HAVE FUN AND RELAX
Central Park can’t be beat for relaxing. Other than that, I love the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. The flowers, trees, ponds, big sky, and the cherry blossoms (when they’re in season) are awesome. A little secret that I’ll share is that I enjoy the Two E Bar and lounge at The Pierre. The lounge is quite relaxing for afternoon tea and sandwiches—yup, very British of me, I suppose.
