The 18th Annual TWO x TWO Honored Artist Laura Owens and Raised $7.5M

Last Saturday, October 22, the 18th annual TWO x TWO for AIDS and Art benefit dinner and auction was held in Dallas. The evening, sponsored by Harry Winston and Cadillac, raised over $7.5 million, bringing the overall total the event has raised for amfAR and the Dallas Museum of Art to $67 million.

The sold-out, black-tie night was chaired by Nancy Rogers and hosted by Cindy and Howard Rachofsky at the Richard Meier-designed Rachofsky House. “The success of Saturday night’s event is due to the unmatched generosity of the artists, gallerists and TWO x TWO supporters from across the United States and overseas. Their commitment is unparalleled and their donations of amazing art has allowed us to raise over $7.5 million, bringing our 18 year total to over $67 million. TWO x TWO for AIDS and Art continues to play a very vital role in fundraising for both amfAR and the Dallas Museum of Art,” said Mr. Rachofsky.

The evening honored artist Laura Owens, who was introduced by the Dallas Museum of Art’s Senior Curator of contemporary art, Gavin Delahunty. “Laura Owens is one of the most innovative artists of our time bringing a special energy and great excitement to her work. She is a leader in the art community and one that we truly admire. Her support of younger artists strikes a major chord with us. Laura is so deserving of this special recognition today,” said Mr. Delahunty. Eric Muscatell, Vice President of Development, amfAR, presented Owens with amfAR’s 2016 Award of Excellence for Artistic Contributions to the Fight Against AIDS.

The auction included 134 works of contemporary art and was conducted by Jamie Niven. A special performance at the gala was given by none other than Ricky Martin. Attendees included, Zoe Saldana and Marco Perego, John Benjamin Hickey, Federica Boido, Peggy Lanigan, Teddy and Melissa Sears, Candice and Tony Romo, Gavin Brown, Michele Maccarone, Rosie Assoulin, Monique Pean, Thomas Keller, and Prabal Gurung.
