Last Tuesday night, the Whitney Museum of American Art held its annual Whitney Art Party, sponsored by Max Mara. This marked the first time the party was held at the new Renzo Piano-designed space in the Meatpacking District, hosted by the Whitney Contemporaries group of young patrons and arts leaders. to celebrate art lovers and supporters of the museum. A ticketed soirée, all went to benefit the museum’s education programs. The night included a preview of work by Rachel Rose and Jared Madere‘s mobile gallery Bed Stuy Love Affair, alongside work by Jake Cruzen, Joseph Geagan, Valerie Keane, and Veit Laurent Kurz. Guests like Leigh Lezark, Chelsea Leyland, Casey Fremont, Chuck Close, Matthew D. Jackson, Charlotte Kidd, and Liz Magic Laser, enjoyed performances from Ignabu, DonChristian, DJ Boody, and Harley Viera-Newton.
