On view through April 25 at EAST, Hong Kong is “The Art of Eco Couture”—an exhibition co-presented by Redress, a non-governmental organization dedicated to reducing textile waste. Driven by a commitment to craftsmanship and sustainability, 19 pieces of “eco couture” will be displayed at the hotel, coinciding with Art Basel.
Taking place in the hotel’s hotel lobby, restaurant Feast, and the linking bridge to , the exhibition will actualize the hotel’s philosophy regarding sustainability and aim to inform the viewers on the impacts of unsustainable fashion. For the exhibition, local designer Angus Tsui and Redress Design Award alumni have come together to raise awareness of textile waste through fashion. All garments on view were created using only recycled and waste-free materials. Circling around the idea of wearable art, the exhibition bridges fashion and art in daily life, bringing to view the current dilemma of textile waste and the impact of fast fashion.
