By Aree Gearhart

April 23, 2014

In an auction at New York City’s Sotheby’s, The Big Fabergé Egg Hunt raised a grandiose $1.6 million last night. All proceeds benefit charities Studio in a School and Elephant Family. With large-scale eggs designed by artists, designers, brands, and architects alike, one in particular designed by Jeff Koons sold for $900,000. Out of the 268 giant eggs, those not in the live auction are still available online through Friday, April 25 on Paddle8. The New York event succeeds the London event of 2012 where over $1.5 million was raised for charity.

In attendance at the Sotheby’s live auction were guests like Agnes Gund, Alexander Gilkes, Alexandra Lind Rose, Bob Colacello, Cara Buono, Constance Jablonski, David Lauren, Diane von Furstenberg , Elizabeth Kurpis, Hayley Bloomingdale, HRH Princess Eugenie, Lee Radziwill, Leigh Lezark, Mark Shand, Mollie Ruprecht, Nastia Liukin, Peggy Siegal, Princess Ira Von Furstenberg , Sam Moore, Sara Arison, Suydam Lansing, Waris Ahluwalia, and Yigal Azrouel.
