Alan Faena and Len Blavatnik celebrated the grand opening of the Faena Hotel Miami Beach during Art Basel. Guests including Andre Balazs, Adrien Brody, Jeffrey Deitch Leonardo DiCaprio, Simon & Michaela de Pury, Mario Testino, and wil.i.am. were treated to a tour of the hotel, welcoming remarks by Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine, a piano presentation by Michael Nyman, live music performances by Andra Day, DJ Henri, Rossy de Palma & Adanowsky, DJ Pascal & Miranda, and New World Symphony, fireworks by the pool and of course a grand spread of food and Dom Perignon champagne.
The Faena Hotel marks the second phase of openings in the Faena District of Miami beach, a new neighborhood stretching from 32nd Street to 36th Street aimed to deepen Miami’s art connection (the first was the Faena House in 2014). The hotel, once the historic Saxony Hotel originally built in 1947 by George Sax, has been restored by Alan Faena alongside award-winning film director/producer Baz Luhrmann and four-time Academy Award-winning production and costume designer Catherine Martin, to bring it back to its old glory.
