The Inaugural Edition of Watch Week Aspen Celebrates Craftsmanship and Community

In an enterprising partnership between the renowned Oliver Smith Jeweler and Aspen Chamber of Commerce, the radiant summertime presentation will debut innovative new timepieces and offer guests exclusive endeavors with horological notables.

From August 8-11 in Aspen, the first edition of Watch Week Aspen will descend upon the stylish city nestled in the Rocky Mountains. In an enterprising partnership between the renowned Oliver Smith Jeweler and Aspen Chamber of Commerce, the radiant summertime presentation will commence with a celebratory cocktail reception led by Swiss haute brand Parmigiani Fleurier

Visitors will then have the opportunity to embark on exclusive endeavors with horological notables, such as idyllic paddleboarding with British luxury watchmaker Bremont, or a guided e-bike voyage up to the legendary Maroon Bells alongside the local, family-owned Oliver Smith Jeweler—who will also be hosting a lively panel on pre-owned watches.

Additional beloved brands and esteemed retails partaking in the inaugural iteration of Watch Week Aspen will include luminaries such as A. Lange & Söhne, IWC, Meridian Jewelers, Panerai, and a great deal more. Panerai will hold a must-see showcase of novel creations, and on August 10 Oliver Smith Jeweler will raise a toast to the jubilant event with a glittering Aspen Vodka Party.

A New August Destination for Fostering Connections

“Aspen is filled with innovators and we love that our business community collaborated to create Watch Week, which has an emphasis on camaraderie and fostering connections,” said Eliza Voss, Vice President of Destination Marketing at Aspen Chamber of Commerce. “We look forward to this event in August.”

“For us, as co-founders of Watch Week Aspen, we hope the event will encapsulate our family’s passion for the outdoors, which inspired Oliver Smith’s design of the Cairn Collection,” added Elizabeth Smith, Managing Director of Oliver Smith Jeweler and founder of Watch Week Aspen. “It’s the watches, it’s Aspen and the love of the Smith family for this very special place on earth—bringing it all together and making it a destination in August for people to come and discover together.”

Unveiling a Limited-Edition Watch

As a highlight of Watch Week Aspen festivities, independent watchmaker Moritz Grossmann and Oliver Smith Jeweler will raise the curtain on a specially commissioned third limited-edition double-signed watch.

Following in the collaborative footsteps of the commissioned, limited-edition Chopard Mille Miglia Chronograph x Oliver Smith Jeweler timepiece—which rejoiced in the local jeweler’s 30th birthday, as well as the double-signed Parmigiani Tondagraph GTs and Parmigiani Tonda GTs—reveling in its 40th anniversary in 2021, the newest innovation is a supreme work of art. Female powerhouses Elizabeth Smith alongside Christine Hutter, the CEO of Moritz Grossmann, spearheaded the synergistic breakthrough for independent horology.

A Shared Passion for Watchmaking

“Double-signed watches are sought after for their exclusivity, historical significance, and the added narrative they bring to a collection,” explained Smith. “We have a real passion for watchmaking and are pleased to be collaborating on our next limited edition with Moritz Grossmann, so highly regarded for producing pieces that are both aesthetically pleasing and technically superb.”

“The passion and attention to detail of the entire team at Oliver Smith resonates strongly with the approach to watchmaking in our manufacture in Glashütte. Therefore, we are delighted to join in creating a limited, bespoke edition of our CENTRAL SECOND model, which highlights craftsmanship, not only in the movement finishing on the back, but also on the front with its unique tone created by the German silver dial. The untreated material is the perfect canvas for the handcrafted hands in our unique brown-violet hue.”

The riveting Moritz Grossmann Central Seconds x Oliver Smith Jeweler was in arduous development for 18 months, and five numbered stainless steel watches featuring both vintage and contemporary flair will debut at the elegant Watch Week Aspen.
