The watch brand Richard Mille debuted in 2001, with a uniquely shaped signature case that today makes it one of the most recognizable timepieces. Mille has always been inspired by cars (especially Formula 1 racing cars), and he creates watches that highlight the engineering and technical feats of his team of master watchmakers.
Just before launching his eponymous brand, Mille also purchased a home in Brittany—a grand chateau in the French countryside. Whitewall had the opportunity to visit him in his country home, complete with stables, a Formula 1 car collection, and an eclectic mix of furniture and art he and his wife have collected over the years at village markets and stores during their travels throughout France.
A feature interview with Richard Mille is in Whitewall‘s current spring 2014 Art Issue.
