Last Wednesday at the Molteni&C|Dada Miami flagship in the Design District, Whitewall hosted an event to celebrate the brand’s newest collection and ongoing dedication to craftsmanship and the arts.
To kick off the evening inside the recently renovated 6,500-square-foot space designed by the brand’s Creative Director, Vincent Van Duysen, champagne and canapés were served to guests.
Special attendees got a firsthand look at the brand’s latest luxurious offerings—from free-standing closets and built-in bedroom fixtures to kitchen designs and living room furniture—which were spread throughout the two-floor boutique and showcased in dedicated rooms.
Special for the night was a live DJ set by Tommy Hart, which boasted tunes to match the lively energy. Then, welcome remarks by brand representatives guided guests to enjoy a live “drawing” performance named “Drawing Spaces” by the Brazilian artist Claudia Vieira, presented in collaboration by Design Miami/ and Alphaa.io.
Starting inside on the street-facing window, the artist stood atop a ladder and slowly created winding circles out of white tape, covering the ceiling and window in a curved, rippling thumbprint-shaped pattern.
After more wine and hors d’oeuvres were enjoyed—like lamp lollipops, coconut shrimp, and miniature hamburgers—guests were delighted to see Van Duysen emerge. Incognito and humbled by the brand’s continued success, the designer walked through the space and shook visitors’ hands while sharing details on the new collection.
“Creativity is longevity,” he told Whitewall. “I’m at a turning point of my life. I turned 60 last April, and it’s time to retrospect or introspect and see where I am and what’s in front of me. I’m still very active, grateful, and aware of where I am. But I was thinking of what, aside from lifestyle, keeps me young. What keeps me alert and keeps me here to create this beauty for the world. Creativity pushes my energy, but it also fuels my longevity. That’s what it’s all about.”
