It’s that time of year again! This is one of our favorite weeks in the art calendar, and where it all began for Whitewaller— Miami.
It is exhilarating to bring you our third print edition of the publication, available in print next week, and available online now HERE. And this issue, we have to say, is our best yet. This may be the most hectic few days of the year for many of us in the art world, so use these pages as a way to find out what you absolutely have to add to your calendar.
In terms of fairs, we break down for you the highlights, preview times, and special programming at Art Basel in Miami Beach, Design Miami/, PULSE Miami Beach, Untitled, SCOPE, NADA, Art Miami, Context, and more. In our features section, The Scoop, you’ll hear from Miami’s key players, like YoungArts’ Carolina García Jayaram, gallerists who have participated in the main fair since its beginning 15 years ago, the architecture firm SHoP that won this year’s Panerai Design Miami/ Design Visionary Award, and artist Sun Xun who’s debuting his biggest commission yet.
For the very first time, we have a Guest Editor for Whitewaller Miami, the fantastic collector, philanthropist, and all-around mover and shaker Sarah Arison. In addition to her words of wisdom on one of the cities she knows best, we bring you insider tips from 10 leading experts who know what’s good in Miami—this week and otherwise.
Between fair-hopping, cocktails, dinner, late-night events, and talks, don’t miss some of the fantastic exhibitions taking place at the Pérez Art Museum Miami, the ICA, the new Faena Forum, the Rubell Family Collection, The Margulies Collection, and CIFO.
Beyond the art, it’s Miami, people! That means nightlife, world- class eats, and shopping like nowhere else thanks to areas like the Design District, Bal Harbour, and the brand-new Brickell City Centre.
Let’s get into it! Be sure to get your copy of the issue next week in Miami, and get a head start by checking it out online.
