Ben Potts’s Miami: KYU, The Wolfsonian, and the Broken Shaker

To give you an insider look at Miami for your stay during Art Basel, we’re talking to those in-the-know. Here, the co-founder and bar manager of Beaker and GrayBen Potts, shares his favorite spots to dine, drink, relax, and see art.

WHERE TO EAT AND SIP
Miami is quickly becoming a fantastic city for delicious food and incredible beverages. When I want to eat, I generally want to drink as well, so I almost always go to a restaurant with a bar (at least for dinner). In Wynwood, if I’m looking for something with Asian flavors and a fun vibe, I head to KYU. If I want something a little more involved and curated, Alter is an excellent option.

WHERE TO SEE ART
For art in Miami, there are quite a few places I recommend. Institute of Contemporary Art features a lot of local and emerging artists. The Wolfsonian and The Bass are two staples of Miami Beach. And of course, the Pérez Art Museum Miami has some incredible exhibits.

WHERE TO HAVE FUN AND RELAX
If you’re looking for fun, cocktails, and a relaxed vibe, you can always head to the Broken Shaker for a great time. When I want to look out onto the water, I love going to The Standard and watching the sunset after spending a day at the hamam. But my absolute favorite is probably the Russian & Turkish Baths, which will take you back in time—to a cave, in Turkey, on Miami Beach.
