Traveling to the Côte d’Azur region and wondering where to enjoy drinks or dinner? Below, you’ll find our Whitewaller Riviera 2019 list of not-to-miss spots in the south of France.
Mirazur
Spearheaded by Chef Mauro Colagreco since 2006, the three Michelin starred restaurant Mirazur is a prized global destination. This year, the restaurant was awarded the number one best restaurant in the world, snagging the top prize on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list—a first for France. The restaurant’s menu—focused on locally-sourced ingredients from local gardens, seas, and markets—is largely inspired by Colagreco’s Argentinian roots, Italian heritage from his grandparents, and his French culinary training. Equally striking is its setting—a 1930s villa about 30 meters from the Italian border, overlooking the Mediterranean sea.
Whitewaller recommends: Ordering Colagreco’s first book, Mirazur, published by Catapulta last year.
Beefbar
Inside Hôtel Lou Pinet is Beefbar—an elegant and inviting restaurant by Riccardo Giraudi that mimics the hotel’s signature relaxed style. Large terraces and tables welcome guests to explore its indoor-outdoor feel, and enjoy shade under the surrounding pine trees and garden greenery. Plates range from savory and delectable to clean and simple, like Kobe and wagyu beef to mahi mahi ceviche and yellowtail sashimi. Inside, a pastel mural drawn onto the wall by French artist Benjamin Navet serves as the perfect backdrop, inspired by photographs of the region in the 1960s and ‘70s. At the outdoor bar, visitors can sit under a wooden pergola and enjoy a glass of rosé while waiting for the sun to set. Once it does, dainty lights and lanterns light up the garden, providing an ideal atmosphere for a magical evening under the St-Tropez stars.
