gather Oakland
Recently relocated to Oakland, gather was founded by husband-and-wife duo Christian and Daisy McClellan to bring together their unique experiences and skills—Daisy is a jewelry designer and Christian a legal consultant—into one place of business. In its new space, gather now exclusively offers artist-led workshops and events like classes in calligraphy, natural perfume making, knitting, and tarot.

Whitewaller recommends: Booking a private event.

Opened in 2018, Hermès’ Paolo Alto boutique was designed by RDAI architecture firm with a light-filled, open floor plan and a blend of modernist style and traditional craftsmanship. In addition to carrying the brand’s latest products for men, women, and the home, the location offers a line of equestrian items and has a noteworthy collection of art.

Since its inception in 2006 by founders Jamie Alexander and Derek Song, Park Life has featured art and design products culled from all over the world. Rare, limited-edition, and unique items include art and design books and photography prints, modern design objects, clothing, home goods, jewelry, original art, and more.

Combining global fashion ideas, local talent, and passion and compassion for the community, the store provides a friendly environment of ready-to-wear, jewelry, shoes, bags, home, and gift items from established designers and emerging brands.

Whitewaller recommends: Perusing the new pieces by Brock Collection, Ganni, Tibi, and Levi’s.
