Last Saturday afternoon, YoungArts held its Pop of Culture event in Aspen at the home of Sandy and Tony Tamer on Highlands Mountain. YoungArts Vice President of Development Stacey Glassman Mizener and YoungArts Board Chair Sarah Arison welcomed guests to an intimate brunch of seafood, chimichurri steak, greens, and homemade brownies.
Longtime supporters of the organization, the Tamer’s hosted notable attendees like Bruce and Ellie Taub, Oti Roberts, Michi and Charlie Jigarjian, Lisa Cortes, Salman Mahdi, Michel Mercure, Debra and Dennis Scholl, Sarah Johnson Court, and Brian Frasca.
A highlight of the afternoon included performances by four YoungArts alumni. Pascal Le Boeuf, a 2004 YoungArts Winner in Classical Music and Jazz, performed “Blue Rondo a la Turk” by Dave Brubeck. Kelley Kessell, a 2012 YoungArts Winner in Voice & U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts, sang “Save Your Love for Me” by Buddy Johnson. Veronica Leahy, a 2018 YoungArts Winner in Jazz, played “Recorda-Me” by Joe Henderson. And Sydney Burtis, a 2017 YoungArts Winner in Dance, performed “I Got You” (I Feel Good) by James Brown alongside Le Boeuf, Kessell, and Leahy.
