On June 15, Art Basel opens with 291 of the world’s leading galleries showing over 4,000 artists. There, attendees will find copies of Whitewaller Basel—out to help guide guests through the busy art fair and the surrounding city life in Basel, Berlin, and Zurich. Below, we’re sharing tips on where to go for dinner, drinks, and art inspiration from the founder of Nicolas Krupp Gallery, Nicolas Krupp.
WHERE TO EAT AND SIP
Zur Mägd is good for Italian food and wine. Chez Donati at Les Trois Rois is classic with style. I also enjoy the French brasserie Volkshaus and Rhyschänzli for steak frites.
WHERE TO SEE ART
For museums: Fondation Beyeler, Kunsthalle Basel, Kunstmuseum Basel, Museum Tinguely, and Kunsthaus Basel. For galleries: Weiss Falk (the new hot spot in town), Mosseri-Marlio, Stampa (the best art books in town), Freymond-Guth, Galerie von Bartha, and of course, Nicolas Krupp.
WHERE TO HAVE FUN AND RELAX
Restaurant Kunsthalle‘s Campari Bar has the best Campari in town. Nebel for a cool bar, Cargo for that Rhine flow, Ostquai for its harbor lounge, and Nordstern for techno.
Be sure to pick up your copy of Whitewaller Basel, out during the fair.
