For our Zürich edition of insider tips, Whitewaller talked to Maria Bernheim, owner of Galerie Maria Bernheim, and athlete and visual artist, Iouri Podladtchikov.
MARIA BERNHEIM
WHERE TO EAT AND SIP
La Barraca, a small, vibrant Italian restaurant, is perfect for a fun night with a big group. The food is better than in Italy, if I dare say. I love the pasta dish called papardelle mon amour. Chicago Bar, on Langstrasse, is one of the few places that has retained locals—drinks are served seven days a week until the mornings, with cheesy music at all hours. During summer, Rimini is ideal for chilled drinks on the river.
WHERE TO SEE ART
Beyond Kunsthaus and Kunsthalle, don’t miss the Migros Museum; Eva Presenhuber for a killer show; and Karma International, which just opened a new fantastic space that is not to be missed. The best-kept secret in Zürich is Plymouth Rock, a space run by American artist Mitchell Anderson. Also, the Rietberg Museum for incredible ancient art and a beautiful walk in the park.
WHERE TO HAVE FUN AND RELAX
Together with my family, we’ll go to Badi Enge for a refreshing swim, basking in the Zürich sun, and for cheeky treats and fantastic fashion I’ll pop into Tasoni.

WHERE TO EAT AND SIP
Restaurant Rosi is amazing—I order everything there. For drinks, Collana Bar & Caffè at Bellevue is nice, and if you need a cocktail, you can walk around the corner to the Kronenhalle Bar for a Vesper.
WHERE TO SEE ART
The Migros Museum is really nice, but right now one shouldn’t miss Bruce Nauman’s retrospective at Schaulager curated by Kathy Halbreich.
WHERE TO HAVE FUN AND RELAX
The Rieterpark is really nice to walk around and close to the lake. If you want to go dancing, Club Zukunft and Bar3000 never disappoint.
