Today we’re talking with the artist and designer, Samuel Ross. Samuel Ross spoke with us late last year, just before he debuted his latest collaboration with watchmaker Hublot and his forthcoming SR_A SR_A engineered by Zara apparel collection.

These follow numerous projects his studio has completed with Nike, Kohler, Aqua di Parma, Beats by Dre, and more. Ross founded the groundbreaking fashion label  A-COLD-WALL* in 2014, his SRA studio in 2019, and the Black British Artist Grants program in 2020.

His furniture collections exist at the intersection of architecture, anthropology, and industrialization. Whether in apparel, objects, or any realm of art and design, what is paramount to Ross is that he presents his opinion and a deeper meaning that connects with us at this moment in time.

Speaking with Ross, I realized he’s not just a master of material, but of words, as well. His delicious vocabulary and turn of phrase make this conversation particularly special in audio form. We know you’ll enjoy listening to his ideas about the luxury of craft, the creative process, and the positive possibility of the future.

“A huge reintroduction back into reality that I find to be really helpful in understanding how people relate to objects, space and garnement, and how you can answer some of their problems simply by observation.” 61’23″
