The School of American Ballet’s (SAB) 2015 Winter Ball took place last Monday at the Lincoln Center David H. Koch Theater and $1.39 million. All proceeds allow SAB to assist annual student scholarships, provide funds for extensive ballet training programs, support faculty, and additionally, help the school maintain its world-class programs and studio spaces.

Van Cleef & Arpels sponsored the black-tie event for the eighth year in a row, which included a cocktail, dinner, performance by a students choreographed by New York City Ballet dancer Peter Walker, dessert, and more dancing. “Peter Walker’s choreography was wonderful and our student dancers delivered his work beautifully,” said SAB’s Artistic Director and Chairman of Faculty, Peter Martins.

The evening was hosted by dedicated chairs Joyce C. Giuffra, Julia F. Koch, Serena Lese, and Laura Zeckendorf and Young Patron Chairs Noreen K. Ahmad, Amanda Brotman, and Lesley Vecsler. With more than 500 attendees, including the likes of Chelsea Clinton and David Koch, the Pop Art era-themed event (designed by Ron Wendt Design) created a fun and festive atmosphere.

“We are thrilled to announce that we raised more than $1.39 million this year, our highest ever for this event. The overwhelming generosity of our sponsor Van Cleef & Arpels and our attendees and donors made for a fantastic celebration last night,” said Margie Van Dercook, SAB’s Executive Director. “Their much-appreciated donations will provide scholarships to aspiring dancers and support the School’s student life programs.”
