On view through June 5, Perrotin’s major presentation of the late artist Alain Jacquet features artworks spanning several decades of the artist’s career, on view across all three of the Paris Marais gallery spaces. The exhibition title, “Jeux de Jacquet,” has a double meaning as a nod to the artist’s name, as well as its literal translation, “backgammon games,” named for the artist’s series of primary-colored works which resemble a backgammon board. Viewers at the gallery will be subject to Jacquet’s widespread practice and principles, including his exploration of the ways our gaze is constantly permeated by images in the age of technological reproduction, informed by his upbringing in one of the first generations to experience an explosion of consumption.
