Enrique Ramirez: Migrant Gardens

“Migrant Gardens” presents interactive installations by Chilean artist Enrique Ramírez, currently on view at the 52nd Les Rencontres d’Arles photography festival through September 26, 2021.

Ramírez’s installations focus on the sea as the subject of instability. He sees the ocean as a memory in perpetual motion, where the fate of Chile and historical accounts of travel, conquest and migratory flows. This exhibition also presents a selection of written works, showcasing the exchange between students and around a hundred residents of Arles during France’s second lockdown. The collection of poetic writings and images form a visual and narrative reconstruction of the imaginative spaces where memory, desire, and experience dwell in “Migrant Gardens.”
