The Rencontres d’Arles presents “Town Boy.”
July 4, 2022 - September 25, 2022
The Rencontres d’Arles presents “Town Boy,” an exhibition of the works of Satish Kumar, the 2020 Serendipity Arles Grant recipient, on view through September 25. The show tracks Kumar’s return to the small town Southern Indian environment of his boyhood as a means to [reconcile] the sudden and at times suffocating shift from his hometown to seek opportunities in the big city. In Kumar’s words, “ I believe this world is a series of chain reactions and every piece of life affects another, like the butterfly effect.” “Town Boy” seeks to trace this chain through the observation of discrete moments in daily life.
