What to See at Art Basel Miami Beach This Year
Art Basel returns to Miami Beach for its 21st edition, representing the pinnacle of the art world in a show of 277 galleries from 33 countries and territories at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Made possible by longstanding Global Lead Partner UBS, the fair’s 2023 edition presents art from the early 20th century through the contemporary moment across a main sector of gallery booths and platforms, including a highlight of emerging galleries in Positions; showcases of new works by three or more artists in Nova; and Survey, focused on highlighting artistic practices of historical relevance.
Art Basel Miami Beach from Across the Globe
Around two-thirds of this year’s presenters hail from the Americas, while the remaining portion represent locations in Europe, Asia, and Africa. A lineup of 24 first-time exhibitors joins the extensive list of returning art spaces, spread across all sectors—like Paris’s Galerie Minsky; Weinstein Gallery of San Francisco; the Los Angeles–based Château Shatto; Galatea of São Paulo, Brazil; Gypsum Gallery of Cairo, Egypt; and the Warsaw, Poland, art space Galeria Dawid Radziszewski.

Highlights at the 2023 Fair
Among many highlights are presentations like The Ranch’s show of never-before-exhibited sculptures by Daniel Lind-Ramos; Matt Bollinger’s musings on middle America with mother’s tankstation; historic paintings by Rudolf Maeglin with Meredith Rosen Gallery; Ryan Lee’s solo show of work by Vivian Browne; new photographs by Texas Isaiah dealing with themes around gender, on view with Residency Art Gallery; and Llano’s exhibition of work by Mano Penalva.
“With new participants from Mexico to Poland and Egypt, and a program both within and beyond the fair like we have never done before, there is an injection of freshness to the fair, and a vigor of experience which we look forward to playing out in full in December,” said Vincenzo de Bellis, director, fairs and exhibition platforms.
