Precious Okoyomon’s installation “Every Earthly Morning the Sky’s Light touches Ur Life is Unprecedented in its Beauty” is an evolving presentation that has seen Okoyomon transforming the rooftop of the Aspen Art Museum each season. Coming to form narratives on our planet’s colonization and enslavement, the artist and poet worked in collaboration with local growers, selecting plant lives that are dangerous or invasive alongside a selection of indigenous species. Asking viewers to consider the ecosystem as an exhibition (as opposed to an exhibition as a metaphor for an ecosystem), Okoyomon’s summer iteration of this living artwork includes a collaboration with the Anderson Ranch Arts Center, a seasonal soundtrack created with the help of musicians, and poetry activations taking place within the exhibition.
