Anna Maria Maiolino’s exhibition “In the sky I am one and many and as a human I am everything and nothing” brings together work from the last half a century.
June 11, 2021 - September 26, 2021
Open at Kunsthaus Baselland through September 26, Anna Maria Maiolino’s exhibition “In the sky I am one and many and as a human I am everything and nothing” brings together work from the last half a century. Including an array of videos, photographs, films, drawings, sculptures, and texts, the presentation captures Maiolino’s singular poetic language as she explores through the years her identity as a woman, a woman artist, and an immigrant. Demonstrating a strong awareness of the human condition, viewers will find in the presentation artwork like Joao & Maria (Hansel and Gretel), depicting a pair of subjects connected by a string in their mouths, and a shot from the Photopoemaction series capturing three generations, titled Por um Fio (By a Thread).
