Olafur Eliasson’s “Life” considers the entanglement of all things living through an indoor/outdoor installation that sees the glass facade of the building temporarily removed.
April 1, 2021 - July 11, 2021
Open for experience online and in-person through July at Fondation Beyeler, Olafur Eliasson’s “Life” considers the entanglement of all things living through an indoor/outdoor installation that sees the glass facade of the building temporarily removed. Taking a biocentric perspective, opposed to a human-centered one, Eliasson has created a living installation where plant life, human life, and microorganisms are free to engage—offering a new experience depending on the time of day. The artist has also refrained from offering an explanatory text to accompany the show, inviting viewers to infuse their own expectations, thoughts, memories, and emotions into their experience.
