Georg Baselitz

Baselitz — The retrospective

The first all-encompassing exhibition of the German artist Georg Baselitz, the Centre Georges Pompidou’s “Baselitz — The retrospective” gives a chronological look at 60 years of artwork. Starting with his early work in the 1960s, visitors will find explorations of aspects of Baselitz’s practice like key periods of creation, exploration of techniques, and his extensive look at art history and the work of other artists, which often influenced his own practice. On view through March 7, 2022, artworks to look out for include those like the 1981 Die Mädchen von Olmo II [The Girls of Olmo II], Ralf III from 1965, and the sculptural ash wood Dresdner Frauen – Die Elbe [Women of Dresden –The Elbe] from 1990.
