On view through May 23 at de Young Museum is “Calder-Picasso.” The exhibition featuring more than 100 works of art by masters Alexander Calder and Pablo Picasso. This is the first major museum exhibition to explore the formal connections between the two artists. Their compelling explorations of the absence of space is showcased through sculptures, paintings, drawings, and photographs, conceived by both of the artists’ grandsons. This exhibition reaffirms their contributions in transforming the public’s conceptions of form and space, as well as art itself.
