Titled “The Studio of Modernism,” Kunstmuseum Basel is presenting a survey of Camille Pissarro’s work, shining a spotlight on his collaborative relationships with his contemporaries—including names like Claude Monet, Paul Cézanne, and Edgar Degas. Often overlooked for his role in the birth of modernism, the exhibition (open through January 23, 2022) highlights the artist as a central figurehead of the Impressionist movement, following his artistic oeuvre across its ventures into Neo-Impressionism and in expressing his revolutionary political views of anarchism.
