Dawoud Bey’s first exhibition at Sean Kelly Gallery, “In This Here Place” is a new body of work centering an exploration of Louisiana plantations. Through a selection of images and video, the third installation in Bey’s history series looks at memory and place through the Black imagination. Visitors in the gallery space will find poignant works capturing various views of plantation grounds, like the silver gelatin prints Open Window and Irrigation Ditch, and the three-channel video installation Evergreen, which features a vocal soundtrack by Imani Uzuri.
