Michelin-star-rated Gwen Butcher Shop & Restaurant in Los Angeles combines an old-world, European-style butcher shop with an elegant American steakhouse. Chef Curtis Stone partnered with his brother Luke Stone to create a cross between world-class butchery and elegant fine dining, all inspired by their maternal grandmother Gwen. The brothers, who both started their careers in a butcher shop, were first exposed to livestock farming on their grandmother’s farm outside of Melbourne.
The restaurant’s ambiance exudes sophistication and warmth, with glass-enclosed dry-age rooms, curing charcuterie, and a captivating fire pit that smokes, sears, and roasts the restaurant’s premium meats. In addition to their main dining room, Gwen offers a secluded dining option in their wine room and private dining area.
Gwen’s butcher shop invites the home cook to peruse a variety of premium, sustainably raised meats. They work directly with ranchers and purveyors to source animals, all hormone-free and ethically raised, and will guide you through the entire process from selecting a cut of meat to serving it on the table.
