To learn more about her favorite spots in Detroit, Whitewall spoke with Jova Lynne, Senior Curator of MOCAD.

BEST-KEPT SECRET IN DETROIT
This question is funny because to me the best keep secret about Detroit is not a secret—it's Detroiters. The leadership, creativity, and care that Detroiters have for this city is unparalleled. It is the Detroit natives' generous spirit that really makes this place so special, from community farms, to political organizing, to music expression, to food and to the visual arts and everything in between, this city thrives because Detroiters make it so.

BEST OFF-THE-BEATEN-PATH PLACE TO SEE ART
Any artist-run space in Detroit is usually bustling with great work to see! A few of my favorite artist-run spaces are Popps Packing, Public Pool, Habibi House, One Mile, Talking Dolls, and of course BULK SPACE.

FAVORITE SPOT IN THE CITY TO FIND INSPIRATION
I often find myself taking walks around Palmer Park. I love that there is so much to see and do in the park plus it's right off of Woodward, so it's easily accessible. Whenever I need to think or look for inspiration, I drive over to the park and walk, people watch and listen to the land. It's a great source of calming inspiration!
