On view at Perrotin in Paris is a show of over two dozen new paintings by Jens Fänge. The artist creates three-dimensional dreamscapes that feature imagery of figures, faces, and furniture against abstract spaces and interiors. The works are uniquely installed throughout the gallery to create a transforming, mesmerizing mise-en-scene, in which the viewer becomes part of the composition. Visitors will find “Inner Songes” is full of references, like an Alvar Aalto-designed lounge chair, the work of George Ault, and even Birkenstock sandals. Fänge’s play of perspective and scale make for a mysterious journey between reality and fiction.
