Josh Sperling: Daydream

On view through June 11 and filling three floors of Perrotin’s New York gallery is Josh Sperling’s exhibition “Daydream.” The artist’s largest show to date shines a spotlight on his examination of color theory through a compilation of shaped canvases, collage paintings, and site-specific installations, which represent some of Sperling’s most ambitious work yet. Aptly named, viewers at the gallery will find themselves faced with an experience not of the waking world, as they travel from room to room, immersed with a sense of childlike wonder brought on by the artist’s gradient squiggles, illusory canvases, and abstract compilations of colorful shapes that please the eye with a delicate balance between chaos and composure.
