Jou Morales, "Atlas of the Hill," Courtesy kurimanzutto

Jou Morales: Atlas of the Hill

Jou Morales’s “Atlas of the Hill,” open at kurimanzutto, is on view until December 14. The exhibition will act as the conclusion to Morales’s greater piece, Siembra (or Sowing), that explored the multi-dimensionality of everyday living. The artist creates protagonists in his own universe that reappear and interact with each other in individual works. “Atlas of the Hill” is a series of complementary abstract paintings on canvas and illustrate life-cycles in non-linear narratives. Morales is the co-founder of the YOPE project space, dedicated to the dissemination of local and international art. His work has been exhibited in Mexico City and Oaxaca. He has also been the recipient of several grants, most recently, Mexico’s FONCA Jóvenes Creadores, or Young Creators.

kurimanzutto will also be featured in Gallery Weekend Mexico, taking place from November 5—7.
