Katherine Bradford: Lifeguards

kaufmann repetto presents Katherine Bradford’s first solo exhibition “Lifeguards” through October 9. Bradford created an immersive world of colors that depict water and sky with subjects of bathers and swimmers. Various shades of blue range from cobalt to azure, and ultramarine to turquoise are divided across canvases.

The artist’s mesmerizing visual language reveals an interest in the relationship between nonobjective and representational painting. Her investigation of form and color allows potential themes around the title of the show, and alludes to the lifeguard’s task of taking care of other human beings, or of that a savior figure.
