Frieze London and Frieze Masters return to London October 12—16 in Regent’s Park. Presented by global lead partner Deutsche Bank, the fair features presentations by nearly 300 galleries from 42 countries, alongside programming, talks, special artist-led projects, and more.
Celebrating its 10-year anniversary, Frieze Masters welcomes more than 130 international presenters bringing significant historic works, collectibles, and the works of Old Masters in an Annabelle Selldorf-designed environment. Situated in proximity to the main fair, its central gallery presentation sector will be accompanied by happenings like a Spotlight platform dedicated to avant-garde pioneers, Stand Out, in which Luke Syson has curated a highlight of design masterpieces, and the Frieze Masters Talks program, which will include speakers Anthea Hamilton, Andra Ursuța, and Jeremy Deller. This year also encompasses the fair’s first presentation of a contemporary artist: a special show of new works by Tyler Mitchell.
At Frieze London, over 160 prominent galleries from around the world are bringing solo and group presentations of contemporary artists, seen across the main sector, Editions, Focus, and the curatorial platform Indra’s Net, which has been conceived by Sandhini Poddar. Across these platforms, fairgoers may recognize galleries new and returning, including names like Lisson Gallery, Maisterravalbuena, Esther Schipper, Hauser & Wirth, Morán Morán, Rachel Uffner Gallery, Blindspot Gallery, David Zwirner, Galerie Gisela Capitain, Company Gallery, Adams and Ollman, Phillida Reid, Galerie Quynh, and Almine Rech.
Highlights of the 2022 edition include the artist-led installation of Emma Talbot’s 21st Century Herbal (a painted silk hanging garden measuring more than 90 feet long), shows of emerging artists like Selome Muleta with Addis Fine Art and Matthew Brown presenting the work of Kenturah Davis, and a commission by the 2022 Frieze Artist Award winner, Abbas Zahedi, whose outdoor installation will be activated throughout the course of the fair. Also not to miss are presentations like Lehmann Maupin’s trio presentation of Cecilia Vicuña, Teresita Fernández, and Calida Rawles considering connections of all sorts, Gagosian’s solo showing of Jadé Fadojutimi, and Claire Lilley’s curation for this year’s Frieze Sculpture, which connects Frieze Masters and Frieze London in an outdoor presentation that will remain on view into November.
