“Wedding Anniversary” is currently on view at Friedman Benda in Los Angeles. The unique show is a creative collaboration between self-taught ceramicist Candice Romanelli and creative director Darren Romanelli, who happen to be husband and wife. On view through October 1, it marks their 15 year wedding anniversary, as well as the gallery’s first exhibition with the artists. “Wedding Anniversary” considers the impact of the couple’s transforming their Los Feliz home into a combined studio throughout the pandemic. Highlights of their domestic lives are site-specifically recreated; a joyful living room context features Darren’s vividly-hued quilted lounge chairs and coffee table, as well as Candice’s delicate quilt ash tray and ceramic and wood side tables. Unique quilt chandeliers and table lamps set the space warmly aglow, with Darren’s quilted dining table, chairs, and sofa furnishing the cozy presentation.
