For the occasion of the first-ever Los Angeles Gallery Weekend, Frieze Los Angeles is debuting a new edition of its Online Viewing Room (OVR) from July 28—August 1. The fourth edition of OVR will feature digital presentations by 47 galleries, the fair’s first presentation of digital art, and events and programming happening in-person throughout the city.
Curated by Venus Lau, the digital art section will encompass five commissioned works by Lu Yang, aaajiao, Peng Ke, Liu Chuang, and Nik Kosmas, along with works by other artists whose practice is rooted in digital mediums. Made viewable using virtual technology by OTOY, the presented works will be registered on the blockchain and available for purchase as NFTs, continuing the ways NFTs can be useful tools when directly connecting artists’ work to the digital marketplace.
In the main viewing room, which has been recently updated to enhance visitor experience, both local and international galleries are present, like Blum & Poe, Gagosian, Hauser & Wirth, Karma, Nara Roesler, Various Small Fires, David Kordansky Gallery, Regen Projects, Thaddaeus Ropac, White Cube, L.A.
