Lucy Dodd’s “Heart Overture” is the culmination of the last 7 years, in which the artist has explored a new collaborative process calling on the help of those closest to her to expand her creative oeuvre. Ranging from small to monumental, Dodd’s canvases have been painted with naturally-derived pigments, utilizing different methods of markings and materials to create the chaotic, spontaneous, and visceral images. Covered in tire marks, body prints, waves of watery tinctures, and sweeping, rhythmic patterns, the presentation encompasses compositions like Love is a Many-Splendored Thing, What the World Needs Now, and the largest of them all (as well as the last to be completed), Heart’s Discovery.
