“The Willfulness of Objects”

No contributor

Featuring a series of works from The Bass’s collection, “The Willfulness of Objects” was named for Abraham Cruzvillegas’s essay of the same name, in which the author reminds us that everything, even a manmade object, is alive and subject to evolution. Including names like Mika Rottenberg, Danh Vō, Paola Pivi, Xaviera Simmons, and Allora & Calzadilla, the works have been made largely from familiar, found, and existing items (like freezers, potatoes, gas pumps, and pearls) and invite viewers to consider the changing nature of objects, their meaning, and what they might leave behind.
