Currently on view at Kaufmann Repetto in Milan, is artist Gianni Caravaggio’s installation “The Sun filtering through the leaves” through April 9. Caravaggio is known for his poetic fusing of traditional and non-traditional materials. Through interior spaces, opening into a tree-lined courtyard, the artist shares his vision through finely-molded sculptures using bronze, marble, onyx, and palm leaf, alongside graphite on paper. Caravaggio examines the passage of time, playing with the mysteries of nature, light, and eternity.
In a press release shared by the artist to the public, he states: “The sunlight that shines through a palm leaf is like time running through my fingers. Transformed into bronze, the fingers of that withered and dry vegetal hand are made immortal.”
