For Lexus's "Sparks of Tomorrow," the brand invited Germane Barnes and Aqua Creations to make an installation inspired by the RZ model.

Among several facets, part of Lexus’s “Sparks of Tomorrow” presentation, the luxury automobile label invited Germane Barnes to conceive a project featuring contributions from the lighting design studio Aqua Creations. A new take on the installation ON/, presented at Design Miami/ last year, the architect and designer Barnes looked to the electric RZ model as the inspiration for a three-dimensional sculpture that has been installed in an atmosphere illuminated with Aqua Creations’s new “ToTeM” collection. Meant to highlight the importance of the brand’s focus on the principle of omotenashi (exceptional hospitality), Barnes’s musings on the electric model culminated in a carefully-crafted form reminiscent of the RZ body, complemented by a hanging installation of beautifully-colored lantern pendants.
Alongside the installation, Lexus also presented new prototypes from the LEXUS DESIGN AWARD 2022 finalists and a work by London’s Royal College of Art students.
