P·P·O·W’s group exhibition “Recovery” features the work of 12 artists like Faith Wilding, Dread Scott, Chiffon Thomas, Carlos Motta, and Harry Gould Harvey IV. Through a selection of new and existing works, the artists have taken it upon themselves to remove distorted understandings of historic representation, with each creation presented as a commemorative shrine for memories, loss, proof, and recovered knowledge. Appearing at the same time to come together and fall apart, the gallery space has been turned into both a devotional and construction site for the duration of the show, where viewers will find work like Scott’s memorial to those killed by hurricane Katrina, Never Forget, Never Forgive: They Left Us to Die and the monolith saltwaterfarm by Carlos Reyes.
