Raising his six children amid the calm of nature in Bordeaux, France, the photographer Alain Laboile captures his family life in black and white on a Leica Q+28mm camera. In Laboile’s exhibition “La Famille,” the self-taught photographer’s images freeze moments in time that imbue nostalgia for the carefree days of childhood, almost giving the impression that their barefoot subjects might exist in a place of fantasy as they partake in activities like scribbling with chalk, interacting with wildlife, and running through foggy woods. Presented at Echo Fine Arts in Valbonne, the exhibition was open in person from June 28—July 10 and will remain viewable in a virtual iteration through August 27.
