Rooted in Homer’s The Odyssey, Fondation Carmignac has transformed its Mediterranean home Villa Carmignac with the group exhibition “Ulysses’ Dream.” Situated off the French coast of Hyères on the Île de Porquerolles, guest curator Francesco Stocchi, the curator at the Boijmans van Beuningen Museum, has conceived a labyrinthian presentation of mythology asking viewers to navigate its many traps and illusions, just as Ulysses sailed the seas for a decade to find his way home. With special installations by the scenographer Margherita Palli (think mirrors, small spaces, and tromp l’oeil constructions), visitors on the idyllic Island will find their navigation of the space filled with around 70 artworks by the likes of Camille Henrot, Yves Klein, Alessandro Piangiamore, Cindy Sherman, and Cyprien Gaillard.
