On December 3 in Miami, the comprehensive 22nd edition of The New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA) descends upon Ice Palace Studios, on view through December 7. A divine, creative presentation brimming with more than 150 art spaces, galleries, and non-profits from 37 countries kindle fundamental artistic and cultural conversation in The Magic City. 66 cities from across the globe, such as Caracas, Honolulu, Buenos Aires, Pittsburgh, Shanghai, and Lagos will be represented, uniting a myriad of diverse perspectives on the current art market. 

What we love: Within the bountiful year-round programming taking place from New York, to Paris, to Warsaw, the much-anticipated Miami presentation will bring together 59-first time galleries like Blue Velvet (Zurich), Sea View (Los Angeles), april april (Pittsburgh), Foreign & Domestic (New York), Eugster II Belgrade (Belgrade), Gallery COMMON (Tokyo), and cadet capela (Paris).

“Historic Works from the Margulies Collection 1930’s – 1970’s”

The Margulies Collection spotlights 21 masterpieces of the 20th Century which make their momentous debut presentation in the city. Spanning the 1930’s through the 70s, grand works of Abstract Expressionism and Pop Art join pivotal creations of coinciding movements. Visitors will have an opportunity to get a closer look at the unparalleled artistry of icons like César, de Kooning, Gorky, Gottlieb, Indiana, Kline, Lichtenstein, Miró, Pollock, Samaras, Smithson, Tanguy, Twombly and Warhol

What we love: Conversation-sparking treasures to behold here include early abstract works on paper by de Kooning, Kline, Pollock, Gottlieb and Gorky, in addition to an essential grouping of Warhol’s silkscreen boxes.

YoungArts Gallery

The visionary MoMA PS1 Director Connie Butler partnered with Young Arts in selecting leading-edge artists Nina Osoria Ahmadi, Priscilla Aleman, Dani Amaro, and Alberto Checa as part of the celebrated YoungArts’ Gallery Residency program. 

What we love: On the spirited occasion of Miami Art Week, the South Florida-based creatives and YoungArts award winners graciously open their studios to guests, offering riveting explorations of the human body as a living and expressive time capsule. 

“Mirror of the Mind: Figuration in the Jorge M. Pérez Collection”

El Espacio 23

El Espacio 23 debuts its fifth exhibition, “Mirror of the Mind: Figuration in the Jorge M. Pérez Collection.” Inspired by the entangled and inseparable relationship between the physical and emotional aspects of the body, the cross-media exhibition examines how artists from different generations and contexts utilize figuration and portraiture to explore the complexities of the human condition.

What we love: Don’t miss works from over 120 artists, including Jared McGriff, Shirin Neshat, Anselm Kiefer, Marta Minujin, La Chola Poblete and Carrie Mae Weems

Lucy Bull: “The Garden of Forking Paths”

“The Garden of Forking Paths” at the ICA Miami is Lucy Bull’s first museum show in the U.S. On view are 20 of the artist’s abstract paintings and works—described as dense, optical overloads—including two large-scale pieces that extend to 10 feet across the museum’s gallery walls, as well as new vertical works. Bull deftly uses color and texture and gesture to create psychedelic landscapes that feel like they are constantly in movement. 

What we love: Don’t miss Lucy Bull’s new monumental lightbox work in the ICA Miami’s stairwell, on view through September 25.

“Andrea Chung: Between Too Late and Too Early”

Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami (MOCA)

The stirring solo presentation by masterful Andrea Chung juxtaposes over 80 mixed media works for a sweeping and experiential show. A gripping journey through her innovative sculptures, collages, works on paper—and must-see installation—employs meaningful materials to peel away the stain of colonial legacies to reveal their profound effect on island nations. 

What we love: Chung’s thoughtful and bold experimentation with sugar and cyanotypes assist the artist in bringing the historical realities and sensorial memories of the transatlantic slave trade to haunting life.

Moxy South Beach embraces its beachside location through a design that evokes midcentury Havana glamour and the artistic nature of Mexico City. Spread across eight stories, the colorful oasis is outfitted with 202 rooms, two pools, several food and beverage outlets—including Bar Moxy and the rooftop restaurant, Serena—and a cultural program of happenings like fitness classes, surf lessons, and a weekly live music series.

What we love: Admiring Aquarela Sabol’s work, which hangs in each room.

Escape to W South Beach, a beachfront oasis just a five-minute walk from Lincoln Road, offering large and beautifully appointed rooms in South Beach. Each guest room boasts its own private balcony with ocean views. On-site, The Grove, Mr. Chow, Wet Bar and Grille, Irma’s, and the Living Room Bar all offer memorable food and beverage options—from Asian bites and American plates to curated cocktails and top-tier wine. The Standard Spa, Miami Beach recently underwent an extensive architectural renovation by Shawn Hausman Design of its expansive spa and culinary outlets. The updates—including the launch of Café Standard and Monterrey Bar—join 100 guest rooms, a swing lounge, tropical gardens, an infinity pool, a gym, a boutique, and a waterfront restaurant named Lido Bayside Grill, which all shine with personality.

What we love: Indulging in the new weekend brunch at Lido Bayside Grill.

Eden Roc Miami Beach

This beachfront retreat encompasses one of the largest Nobu Restaurant and Bar Lounges in the world. With 415 remodeled ocean-view rooms, three pools, and over 20,000 square feet of spa and fitness facilities, Eden Roc re-energizes in a stylish, luxurious way. Recently opened is its beachfront restaurant, Ocean Social, where the avocado pizza is a true local favorite. 

What we love: Unwinding with a Calm Together couples spa treatment.

COTE Miami

The second iteration of Simon Kim’s New York–based Michelin-starred and James Beard Award–nominated Korean steakhouse, COTE in Miami was recently awarded a Michelin star for the third year in a row. This means the locations are among just two concepts in the U.S. with Michelin stars in multiple cities. COTE Miami features sumptuous meals on smokeless grills at each table, complemented by an esteemed beverage program. Executive chef David Shim, beverage director Victoria James, director of bars Sondre Kasin, and head of beverage operations Mia Van de Water deliver unparalleled service and a comprehensive dinner and drink menu to remember.

What we love: Participating in the Basel Feast, available for a limited time.

Carbone Vino

Major Food Group’s latest restaurant, Carbone Vino, will open in Miami this month. It is the company’s second Vino concept after Dallas, centered on extraordinary wine and Italian cuisine. Here, a selection of Carbone’s famous signatures will be offered alongside a remarkable beverage program, filled with wines by the glass often only offered by the bottle. 

What we love: Viewing the art collection, curated by Vito Schnabel.

Papi Steak

As the first restaurant from Groot Hospitality in partnership with David “Papi” Einhorn, Papi Steak pays homage to old-world Miami and Hollywood glamour with a modern twist. The restaurant fuses David Grutman’s affinity for high-style design with Einhorn’s love of great steak, and lavish, over-the-top, ultra-indulgence details for an unforgettable night out.

What we love: Feasting on the famous Beefcake and Wagyu Pastrami.

Dante’s HiFi

Dante’s HiFi listening bar is dedicated to analog audiophile music culture and features a vast collection of vinyl records. Inspired by Japanese listening bars, this spot offers a comfortable lounge to discover not only music director Rich Medina’s personal vinyl collection but a constant rotation of world-class DJs and musicians coming through the doors. 

What we love: Sipping the Dizzy Gillespie.

Sexy Fish

London’s dining hot spot Sexy Fish recently opened its first international location in Miami’s Brickell neighborhood. Restaurateur Richard Caring’s opulent eatery features a design concept by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, which puts an oceanic spin on a midcentury brasserie. Sexy Fish’s glamorous clientele will find themselves seated comfortably at vibrant leather banquettes and tables, amid towering interiors that have been outfitted with eye-catching artworks and design elements from renowned artists and designers. Offering fare and entertainment into the early hours of the morning, the Japanese-centric cuisine concept is under the care of the Michelin-starred Chef Director Bjoern Weissgerber, whose menu includes tasty bites for lunch, dinner, late-night outings, and dessert, as well as extensive options for beer, wine, spirits, and cocktails.

What we love: Stopping in at 4–7 p.m. on weekdays for special sips, snacks, and DJ sets during The Happiest of Hours.

Pao

Spearheaded by James Beard Foundation Award–winning Chef Paul Qui for the Faena Hotel Miami Beach, Pao features a culinary concept full of unique, globally inspired Asian dishes. The international styles of influence include Filipino, Spanish, Japanese, and French—all with varying cooking techniques that electrify the palate.

What we love: Sticking around to try the sumptuous dessert options.

Since launching in 2000, the Italian brand has become a byword for “perfectly imperfect” designs which are pre-softened, delivering that dynamic look of your favorite sweater or pair of sneakers from the inception.
