The Hyundai Commission: Cecilia Vicuña

Tate Modern and Hyundai Motor have invited the Chilean artist Cecilia Vicuña to imagine their annual Hyundai Commission, which will fill the museum’s Turbine Hall from October 11, 2022—April 16, 2023. Formed from a background that encompasses exile from Chile in the 1970s and the quest to preserve her country’s indigenous culture, Vicuña’s artistic oeuvre calls upon an amalgamation of elements like poetry, performance, painting, the ritual of weaving, and assemblages, resulting in the creation of thought-provoking installed landscapes with a sense of environmental responsibility.
