New York-based visionary Oto Gillen explores the nuances of photography and sculpture in meditative artworks. Focusing on realms of contemporary architecture, cosmopolitan vistas, and organic occurrences, Gillen utilizes repetition and juxtaposed subjects to revelatory effect. The “Eleventh Avenue” presentation at The Power Station will unfold as captivating digital displays over gallery columns. A symphony of photographs created over the last decade will beguile visitors as Gillen’s inaugural video-based solo show in the U.S.

“You Stretched Diagonally Across It: Contemporary Tapestry”
Dallas Contemporary
Design District

Spearheaded and curated by Mexico-based curator Su Wu, “You Stretched Diagonally Across It: Contemporary Tapestry” is a dynamic group presentation at Dallas Contemporary opening this spring. Uniting 30 skillful artists such as El Anatsui, Candice Lin, Diedrick Brackens, and Sanam Khatibi, the verdant show takes a closer look at the ways in which contemporary artists experiment with the timeless art form. “We proceeded from the simple questions, What is a tapestry? What does it do?” said Wu. “In this digitally mediated moment, tapestries offer a way of considering material significance, whether it matters what our images are made of, and the relationship between surfaces and the structures that support them.”
