The Pavillion of Denmark at the 59th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia presents an art installation by Uffe Isolotto entitled “We Walked the Earth,” curated by Jacob Lillemose and commissioned by the Danish Arts Foundation. The artist welcomes viewers into a surrealistic universe which combines the beauty of Danish farm life with science fiction: drama unfolds as viewers encounter the home and belongings of a centaur family in a strange, unsettled world. The exhibition, which explores survival, includes an illustrated short story by Isolotto and Lillemose. “The installation brings humans and animals very close together, but only to show how torn between the past and the future we are at this present time in history, as well as the complexity of dealing with this much hope and despair,” Isolotto said.
