Une seconde d’éternité

Through September 26, the Pinault Collection is hosting “Une second d’éternité” at the Bourse de Commerce in Paris, featuring work from over 15 artists. “Une second d’éternité” translates to “a second of eternity” and borrows its name from Marcel Broodthaers’s film, Une seconde d’éternité (d’après une idée de Charles Baudelaire). Similar to its namesake, the exhibition explores the fleeting nature of time in contrast to the depth of emotion one can feel in such a short span. The show is partially inspired by Felix Gonzalez-Torres, whose work is also featured in the collection, in terms of developing time as a theme and encouraging emotional connectivity. Pieces are displayed throughout the entirety of the Bourse de Commerce, and installations range from more eclectic works, such as Philippe Parreno’s fish-balloon-filled installation, to thought-provoking political demonstrations, as seen in Carrie Mae Weems’s Repeating the Obvious. The exhibit is curated by CEO of the Pinault Collection Emma Lavigne in collaboration with Caroline Bourgeois. Matthieu Humery acted as photography curator for the collection.
